Tie Dye Revolution
Meet the Maker
Greetings and thank you for joining me on the adventure I am undertaking. I have been gifting and donating my artisan attire for some time now, honing my craft, and dreaming of reaching more people with my good energy colors. I am a semi-retired school teacher, living in a tiny town in Oregon with my dog Pete, and finding new passions in life. I fell in love with the art of dying, learning everything I can through experience and collaboration, about this very deep and complex art. How different colors react to different fabrics, how temperature and time play in, what colors like each other and how they travel and fasten when applied, so many fascinating elements I never would have IMAGINED.
How it’s Made
After being Hand washed with organic detergent, the "blank" is soaked in soda ash to fix the colors for a bright future. The geodes are tied with sinew, then covered with a layer of ice. The dry colors are place over the ice and the magic begins. As the ice slowly melts the water seeps down through the garment, taking dye along with it to deposit along the way,. After 24 hours or so, it is finally time for the highly anticipated reveal". Wash, dry, iron TaDa!!!!
