Meet the Maker

Greetings and thank you for joining me on the adventure I am undertaking. I have been gifting and donating my artisan attire for some time now, honing my craft, and dreaming of reaching more people with my good energy colors. I am a semi-retired school teacher, living in a tiny town in Oregon with my dog Pete, and finding new passions in life. I fell in love with the art of dying, learning everything I can through experience and collaboration, about this very deep and complex art. How different colors react to different fabrics, how temperature and time play in, what colors like each other and how they travel and fasten when applied, so many fascinating elements I never would have IMAGINED.

How it’s Made

I treat every item with care, first handwashing them in organic detergent and then soaking them soda ash to help the dyes stay bright and clean, then hanging them on the clothes line in my garden. Once the apron is dry, I draw my design plan with washable markers and starting tying with sinew,. Once tied, it is time to dye. I have a large library of amazing colors that can be used straight for ice, rain, and snow dye projects and also mixed with water for traditional liquid dying. Waiting 24 hours, at least, is the hard part but once it's time for the "reveal", it's all worth it. Untying the apron releases uncontrollable oohs and awes, smiles and giggles, making the wait worth it all. Next, the apron is rinsed and washed, ironed and readied for listing, wrapping for gifting and shipping, or donating.

. Choose from the aprons shown or mix it up, with a design from one and the colors from another, combine designs, the options are endless. I will dye it to per your specifications and have it on the way within two weeks,. For even more personalization, check out the " paint over dye" custom orders I have done upon request.
