Tie Dye Revolution
Meet the Maker
Greetings and thank you for joining me on the adventure I am undertaking. I have been gifting and donating my artisan attire for some time now, honing my craft, and dreaming of reaching more people with my good energy colors. I am a semi-retired school teacher, living in a tiny town in Oregon with my dog Pete, and finding new passions in life. I fell in love with the art of dying, learning everything I can through experience and collaboration, about this very deep and complex art. How different colors react to different fabrics, how temperature and time play in, what colors like each other and how they travel and fasten when applied, so many fascinating elements I never would have IMAGINED.
How it’s Made
Trust the Process, she said…………….and so I did.
After handwashing my garments in organic soap and drying them on the line in my garden, I get them ready for dye. Sometimes I have designs in my head, or sketched in my notes, often I am filling an order designed by a customer who didn’t see exactly what they wanted in my inventory and knew I would make them anything they came up with. Choose one or even two of the designs you see on any item in the catalogue, pick colors, tell me the size and I will make it just for you. And it won’t take any longer than an already made item to reach you. Any number of means and devices are employed to achieve the desired results including ice, snow, rain, sinew, rubber bands, binder clips, hot water irrigation, aluminum foil, hemostats, fishing line, kite string, compass, protractor, ruler, and contraptions I build out of things lying around to incline my project or displace water as the ice melts.
